BBW Cupidis a dating website for plus-size singles and their admirers. This means that this website isn’t solely available to BBWs (big beautiful women). When I first logged in, there were only 309 members online, and this was on a weekend -- meaning the site doesn’t boast many members, especially when stacked up against others in the popular BBW category.

The reasons for this, however, can’t easily be discerned, as profiles and their many features are quite impressive. For instance, when one clicks on a profile, they can read just about everything there is to know about a person. This ranges from their hair type to their income, and everything in between. Profiles also feature -- quite prominently, I should add – what each member is seeking in a partner, disclosing the preferred gender, age range, and how far they’d prefer this person to be located from their own address.

The most unique of BBW Cupid’s many features would have to be its criteria matching system. When visiting any profile, members are able to see if the profile they’re viewing meets their criteria based on what was answered in their own profile (this can be edited whenever you like). The results of which are shown as either a green dot (which means they fit your criteria), or a red dash (which means they don’t). It’s an easy way to find out whether or not a member is worth messaging, and cuts browsing in half, which is an asset considering BBW Cupid profiles tend to be lengthy.

A good reason for these lengthier profiles could be that, when navigating the site, members are asked to provide more and more information about themselves in a pop-up ad. If members left any question unanswered when signing up for the website, these questions will undoubtedly reappear after clicking a few links within the site. This would be less of an issue if members had the option to skip these questions or close the prompt altogether, but that’s not possible. The prompt won’t go away until the questions shown are answered.

Sign-Up Process

Signing up for BBW Cupid is very similar to most dating websites. Members are first asked to fill out standard information, such as their name, email, gender, etc., to which they are then asked to fill out lengthier text boxes that ask for a profile headline, a little bit about themselves, and what they’re looking for in a partner. Basically, it’s what you’d expect from any dating website.

Once completed, members are brought to an empty profile where they’re asked to fill out additional information about themselves -- all of which resides under four categories: Basic, Appearance, Lifestyle, and Background/Cultural Views. Something that is unique to BBW Cupid’s sign-up process is that members can specify what they’re looking for from the website, and the options aren’t all romantic. For instance, members can seek friendships, or even pen pals.

Members & Messaging

Everything somebody could wish to know about a person can be viewed in a BBW Cupid member’s profile, should the person choose to provide such insights. This information includes things like hair color, hair length, and hair type -- yes, it gets that descriptive about hair. Members can also take a look at whether other members match their criteria based on the answers provided during the sign-up, as well as deducing whether you match theirs -- which is a unique and very helpful feature. Messaging members, however, is pretty standard. One can message, instant message or “Send Interest” -- which is essentially a means of initiating conversation. If for any reason interaction with another member gets complicated, they can be blocked with the click of a button.
